I tried getting on IRC today for some startup idea related stuff and ran into some errors requiring “identd” to be installed when chatting on the irc.efnet.net server.
Luckily, a little quick googling found a solution to the problem here: macosxhints: enable identd server for internet relay chat use
The chat client ( colloquy ) I’m currently using for IRC is pretty simple and seems full featured enough (the webt page has lots of scripts…etc). Right after installation finished, it registered as a growl message notification service, so I’m gonna try to hang around some IRC chatrooms more regularly to see if I can enjoy IRC again for the first time since high school
